Children’s Defense Fund wanted to raise awareness that short-term budget cuts to programs for children create long-term problems with even greater costs.
The creative team came up with “Be Careful What You Cut.” We built a landing page for the CDF site that invited users to learn about the the high price of short-term cuts and to share via social media. We partnered with Twibbon to allow users to upload their own image and overlay it with our iconic “cut out” to create a compelling and personal Facebook or Twitter profile picture. We also created engaging Facebook infographic cover images that supporters could upload to their Facebook pages. When the 2012 legislative season ended we updated the Twibbon profile image app with a “Take Action” to sign CDF’s petition telling members of Congress to protect children’s safety nets and to invest in their health, education and well-being.
